Resurfacing works on Talbot Road

Councillor Steve Pitt, representing Central Southsea is helping make sure residents in the Talbot Road area of Southsea are aware of the temporary disruption likely to be caused by the work to resurface Talbot Road. "It's helpful to residents that they know about this work, so they can know to avoid the area while work is conducted and make sure their pets do not come into contact with the hot bitumen surface that will be laid"

Council Leader calls on Chancellor to support Portsmouth

Council Leader, Councillor Gerald Vernon-Jackson wrote today to Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak to support Portsmouth. The letter calls on the Chancellor to:

  • Support high streets by abolishing business rates for small retailers

  • Keep the welcome £20 uplift in universal credit (currently due to end in April)

  • Support a green recovery with investment in solar power and insulation. (Portsmouth is the leading council for solar panel investment)

  • Invest in the next generation by supporting early years giving children the best start before joining school
