Lib Dem Council Leader Steve Pitt welcomes the news that a multi-million pound refurbishment of Hilsea Lido is nearing completion.

Portsmouth City Council invested in a bid to a Government scheme and won the money to refurbish the outside pool.

It will be open for the summer months so local can enjoy summer outdoor swimming. The reopening of the historic unheated pool will have family activities, social spaces, a new sauna, ‘pop-up’ food and drink offerings. There will also be new containerised changing rooms.

“This is great news for local families,” says Councillor Steve Pitt. “This will add to the new all-weather pitches in Cosham and the new swimming pools coming in Eastney."

“Lib Dem councillors have worked hard to ensure that there are new facilities all across the city, while other councils are cutting services.”

Hilsea Lido will open on 2 May for local families to enjoy the warmer months at the newly refurbished pool, part of an investment of over £40m in sport and leisure facilities.
