Meet Charlie Murphy

Portsmouth's next Liberal Democrat MP

Charlie Murphy

Charlie is a former care worker who was born in Portsmouth and grew up in North End. Now, he is standing up for our city campaigning on the NHS, Southern Water, and cutting food and energy costs.

Charlie wants to take these issues to Parliament as Portsmouth's next Liberal Democrat MP.

He is working with our team of Liberal Democrat councillors to get things done for Portsmouth, and Charlie regularly helps people with fly tipping, housing and other local issues.

Charlie is the best person to represent Portsmouth in Parliament. He will hold the Labour government to account and stand up for Portsmouth against bad decisions that hurt our city, from cuts to local services to disastrous half-baked ideas like forcing Portsmouth to merge with other areas, or the doomed Aquind interconnector project.

Charlie is standing up for Portsmouth and Southsea, working hard for our city all year round. You can contact him at hello@charliemurphy.uk

Give Portsmouth a real voice: back Charlie to be our MP

Charlie and the Portsmouth Liberal Democrats depend on the support of our local community to champion our city and give it the strong voice it deserves.

If you could offer as little as an hour a month to support our work, please get in touch below. If you haven't much time, you could donate as little as £5 to help Charlie and the local Lib Dem team write to your neighbours.

Environment

Sewage Alert Signs for Portsmouth Swimmers.

This week, 292 Conservative MPs voted to allow sewage dumping by water companies in our coasts and rivers for at least 15 more years.  In the last two years alone, water companies in England dumped raw sewage 775,568 times over 5,768,679 hours. The new regulations would permit dumping to continue for 15 more years.

Housing

Lib Dem-led Portsmouth creating over 1,000 extra council houses

For years councils have been forced to sell off council houses and flats. It has been brilliant for the families that bought them, but the Conservative Government would not allow councils to replace the houses and flats sold off. Portsmouth sold off over 16,000, making it much more challenging to home homeless families. But action by the Lib Dem-led City Council is seeing a rebirth in the building and acquiring of council houses.
