Stop Sewage Dumping in Southsea

With the Government ignoring us, and water compaines not interested, it's time to take action.

Portsmouth Liberal Democrats are holding companies like Southern Water to account over their reckless sewage discharges into the sea.

After the Government whipped its MPs including local city MP Penny Mordaunt to allow sewage to be dumped in our sea, your Lib Dem team are fighting back.

Portsmouth swimmers, surfers and other beach and sea users have made it clear that isn’t good enough. The scandal of sewage being poured into our seas is continuing, with no effective action being taken by the government.

“The Conservative Government has the power to take action, now. It just chooses not to” explains Lib Dem Council Leader Gerald Vernon-Jackson.

The situation stinks. We need action now The Government is not listening and the water companies aren't interested. We have to make them.

Peter Candlish, Southsea Sewage Campaigner

Water companies are also still allowed to regulate themselves. They are responsible for reporting their own sewage discharges!

“This problem will take time to fix and we need to start right now. The Conservatives are letting everybody down with their inaction.” explains Peter Candlsih.

UPDATE: Lib Dems block Government’s cash hand-out to water companies dumping sewage
