The Council wants to hear your views on the future of Portsmouth

I'm delighted by the response to our Hands Off Portsmouth campaign, with thousands of people telling us that they want the government to respect our unique identity as a city and leave us out of their rushed plans for reorganising democracy.

Now the Council wants to hear your views before we send our official response to Keir Starmer and the Labour government.

With Conservatives in Hampshire looking at a Portsmouth-Southampton merger, it's important that we make sure the voices of people who live in this city - people like you - are heard.

My priority since day one has been to get the best possible outcome for people and communities in Portsmouth, building on our financially stable council to continue to deliver the services you rely on.

The government is rushing their reorganisation agenda through, so the council needs to hear your views by Sunday night on the Portsmouth City Council website.

Your Lib Dem-led council has been clear on our views: The government has to recognise our unique island identity and stop trying to force us into a new council without even putting it to a vote.
