Supporting Our City: Portsmouth's Lib Dem council lower water bills for the vulnerable
I'm proud of the work we're doing in Portsmouth to make life better for our neighbours, like our Lib Dem-led city council working with Southern Water to save £886,000 from the bills of people in our city who need the most support.
Thanks to the leadership of Steve Pitt, my friend and fellow Milton councillor, the council is working with Southern Water to move over 5,000 people onto a money-saving scheme that will save them an average of £177 every year - money we know will make a real difference to them.
For some people, this means they'll be paying 90% less for water than they are at the moment.
I'm proud of the support that my Lib Dem colleagues have given to local residents during the cost of living crisis.
Under our leadership, Portsmouth has run the successful Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme, and agreed to fund this for another year.
We've given £245,200 to low-income pensioners through the Portsmouth Older Persons' Energy Payment scheme in response to the Labour government tearing away the Winter Fuel Allowance from vulnerable pensioners in our city.
The council's Council Tax Support Scheme has been safeguarded, supporting households eligible for a discount, and your council has supported people with hardship payments for daily costs like food and energy bills through the Household Support Fund.
Standing up for people in our city is what motivated me to become a councillor, and I'm proud to be part of the Liberal Democrat team delivering for you.

Cllr Kimberly Barrett is the Liberal Democrat councillor for Milton and Portsmouth's cabinet member for Climate Change and Greening the City.
