Are your energy bills too high? The Lib Dems have a plan...
I got into campaigning to make a difference in people's lives. That's why I'm pleased that the Lib Dems have set out a practical and ambitious plan showing how we can halve energy bills in the next ten years.
Our clear plan would see investing in cheap, clean renewable power become a national priority. While we do that, we'll look across to our neighbours in Europe to trade energy more efficiently, cutting costs and reducing our reliance on gas.
We'll make a difference to your home as well, championing new technology that helps people use energy more flexibly - at times when it's cheaper - so you pay less.
We'll also make homes across Portsmouth and the rest of the UK warmer and cheaper to heat, starting with free insulation for those on low incomes and making sure that every new house built is zero-carbon.
Years of failure and neglect under the Conservatives pushed up everyone’s energy bills, and the Labour Government has failed to prioritise cutting them.
But it doesn't have to be like that.
That's why I'm going to be writing to Labour's Energy Security minister asking him to back the Lib Dem plan and break the link between gas prices and energy costs, so people can enjoy the benefits of cheap, clean power. I'd like to add your name to that letter.
Are your energy bills to high?
Add your name to our letter to Labour's energy minister, saying enough is enough - it's time for the government to take action on energy bills.
I know that people across our city are struggling with the cost of living, and I'm sure that bold ideas are the only way to make a real difference.
