Cllr Steve Pitt's Armed Forces Day Message
This Saturday, we celebrate This Saturday, we celebrate Armed Forces Day on Southsea Common. There will be a veterans parade, a parachute display, junior field gun and a flypast with spitfires plus loads of stalls, activities and live music.
Armed Forces Day is about the whole community coming together to have fun but also an opportunity to remind ourselves just how important the forces community are to our city.
Over 37,000 local people have a connection in some way to one of the services; either as a serving member, reservist, veteran, cadet or family member. This is their day and Armed Forces Week is all about them and how much we value their contribution to our city.
I am proud to be Portsmouth City Council's Armed Forces Champion and exceptionally proud that we are one of the few local authorities which is Gold for the Armed Forces Covenant, recognising all we do to support and promote both serving personnel and their families but also our cherished veterans.

Cllr Steve Pitt is the leader of Portsmouth City Council and oversees the council's culture, regeneration and economic development work. He represents Milton ward on the council, bringing his experience of managing cultural venues such as the Eastney Cellars to the council's operations.
