3 steps to end the " Corridor Crisis" in A&E departments
30,000. That’s how many people have to wait for over 12 hours in A&E departments every single week.
This "Corridor Crisis" is now a regular occurrence at Portsmouth's QA hospital and a national scandal and its getting worse.
Patients lying on trolleys in corridors for hours on end. No privacy. No dignity.
The "Corridor Crisis" must end - and the Lib Dems have a simple 3 part-plan to do it.
1. Stop people needing to go to A&E in the first place.
Our GP Guarantee would ensure that everyone can see a GP within 7 days (24 hrs if urgent) and proper investment in preventative health and care support.
2. Stop people being stuck in hospital long after they’re well enough to leave.
Properly fund social care & hospital discharge to support people properly in their own home.
3. Fund points 1 and 2 above by scrapping the government's plan to give an extra £3 billion year to pharmaceutical giants to appease Donald Trump.
This simple plan could end the scandal of 12-hour A&E waits.
It is the sort of practical, positive change the NHS - and our country - needs.
As Portsmouth heads towards May's crucial local elections, I'm proud it's the Lib Dems who are standing up for patients and fighting to save our NHS.

End the A&E Crisis
I back the Lib Dem plan to end the A&E crisis with a new law to end 12 hour waits and make 6,000 extra hospital beds available to end corridor care.
