Your St Jude candidate: Dr Hugh Mason

Introducing your St Jude ward candidate in the May 6th local elections: Dr Hugh Mason

"Hello, I'm Dr Hugh Mason and I've been a local councillor in Southsea since 2004. This May I'm standing to be re-elected.
I've lived in Southsea for over 40 years, I used to teach at the University. At St Simon's church I have cooked for the homeless for the last 27 years, and am currently Chair of the Parochial Church Council.
My role on the City Council is as Cabinet Member for Planning Policy and I'm leading the campaign to oppose the Government forcing the building of over 17,000 new houses and flats in the city. This should be a decision we take locally, it should not be imposed on the city by the Government.

Supporting local residents is at the heart of what I do. For the last fifteen years I have been representing Portsmouth on the Regional Flood & Coastal Committee, and I've successfully helped to win over £100m from the Government to rebuild the Southsea sea defences.

I hope you will support me to be part of the Lib Dem team running the City Council in the Council Elections this spring."
