Introducing your Central Southsea candidate: Steve Pitt
I was born and brought up in Portsmouth and live in Westfield Road with my partner Di and our much loved dog Finn.
I've worked running events and venues for many years in Portsmouth. Whether its running the Royal Marines Association Club, The Cellars or producing plays at the Square Tower I've been involved in the life of the city for many years, including chairing the city's Culture Partnership from 2009-2015.
For the last three years I've looked after the Culture, Leisure and Economic Development side of the City Council. I've managed to get the KIngs Theatre to apply for a grant which has saved the business, I'm leading on the rescue of the New Theatre Royal with the City Council buying the building to save it as a theatre. I've also led on plans for a new pool in Eastney as well as work to make Fawcett Road a greener and more inviting place for shoppers.
Along with the Lib Dem councillors supporting local residents is at the heart of what I do. Whether it's getting rubbish removed from streets, getting residents parking zones for areas that want them, getting new play equipment for Orchard Park or getting secure cycle storage in Addison Road.
I hope you will support me to enable me to continue to be part of the Lib Dem team running the City Council in the Council Elections this spring.
