Portsmouth Lib Dems help New Forest candidate to victory

The Portsmouth Lib Dem team has been volunteering time to New Forest Lib Dems in their efforts to gain a seat on Lymington and Pennington Town Council during a recent by-election. Lib Dem candidate Jack Davies, age 20, was successfully elected after a nail-biting election day.

The final vote came down to 401 votes each to Jack and the Conservative candidate which meant the winner was chosen by random lot. Portsmouth Lib Dem Leader Gerald Vernon-Jackson is originally from the New Forrest: "I'm really pleased we were able to help Jack to secure his new seat on the town council. This is a really positive sign of the Lib Dem fightback following last year's general election defeat. Congratulations to Jack and I hope he is the first of many new Lib Dem councillors in the Forest.
