VICTORIA PARK: Public reject Conservatives' plans for people's park

A damning report published by Portsmouth Liberal Democrats has overwhelmingly shown that Portsmouth City Council are moving in the wrong direction with developments to Victoria Park.

Portsmouth Liberal Democrat councillors and campaigners conducted a consultation in the summer after the conservative-run Portsmouth City Council published plans for it's development, which included removing the aviary and forcing much loved community group Art and Soul Traders from their home at the café.

Liberal Democrat campaigner and local resident Margaret Foster commented "This report shows Donna Jones and the Conservative council are out of touch with what the public want. They have to listen to them and respect their views - by going ahead with their plans, they are choosing to blatantly ignore us".

Over 1,700 people participated in the Liberal Democrat's consultation, nearly three times the number that participated in Portsmouth City Council's consultation. You can read the report here
