There have been a lot of developments in regards to land at St James’ Hospital and Langstone Campus recently so we thought an update would be helpful.
Langstone Campus. The University remain the only land-owner. The University have now made the decision to close the student halls element of the campus as of the end of the 2017/18 academic year. They have not yet made any decisions about how those buildings are to be used – they may be repurposed for a different use by the university or sold. The sports pitches and accompanying facilities will continue to be used by the University.
St James’ Hospital. There are three land owners involved: The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), The Solent NHS Trust and the NHS Property Company. See the map below for who owns what.
The HCA are now moving forward with an outline planning application for their piece of land for 107 homes which they intend to put into the City Council at the end of the Summer. They are holding their own public consultation event on Monday 24th July, 4pm-9pm at Milton Park Primary School. If you want a say in what this development looks like, please do go along.
The Cricket Field. The Cricket Field is currently owned by the NHS Property Company. The Cricket Club has had it listed as an Asset of Community Value. This means that if/when the field comes up for sale, the Cricket Club will have a right to bid for that land within 6 months.
The Milton Neighbourhood Plan. We’ve been working with local residents on a Neighbourhood Plan for the area over the past couple of years. It looks like a full version of the Plan will be out for public consultation in the autumn. In the meantime, you can find out more at miltonplan.org.uk.
We hope this information is useful to people.
