Residents delighted with swift Lib Dem action on 'sink hole'

Catisfield Road residents alerted city Councillors on Twitter and Facebook to a 4 feet wide sink-hole that opened up wide beneath the Tarmac and dropped down about 2 feet. Lib Dem Councillors Ben Dowling (Milton Ward) and Lee Hunt (Central Southsea) reacted quickly calling out Colas, the city's highways contractor. Cllr Hunt went to the location to await Colas, who arrived within 20mins and caused the affected area to be surrounded by barriers.

The next morning Colas were on site again at 8.30am to dig down and cut out the sink-hole across a 10 feet square of the road. The area has been filled back in and the road surface reinstated. Local residents posted their thanks on Facebook and Twiter saying "big thanks to Ben and Lee for getting this sorted ASAP! Colas got there at 8:30 and started fixing it so that was super quick and saved someone from a potential injury or insurance claim on their car!!!"
