Antonia Harrison, Liberal Democrat candidate for Portsmouth North is a committed, multilingual European who believes that EU membership is best for Portsmouth and the United Kingdom - for our economy, environment and cross-border security - although respects people’s opinions for wishing to Leave. She campaigns tirelessly for a confirmatory People’s Vote as Brexit started with the people and should be decided by the people. Fully aware of the potential traffic congestion at Portsmouth’s Port and the risk to jobs and the local economy, she is determined to avoid a No Deal Brexit.
As a private mental health therapist, she helps clients locally and abroad with psychological issues, anxiety, addictions, unwanted behaviours, phobias and lack of confidence. Antonia is also establishing affordable public speaking training for women only.
Portsmouth parliamentary candidates Gerald Vernon-Jackson (Portsmouth South) and Antonia Harrison (Portsmouth North) joined hundreds of thousands marching in London recently to protest against the disruption Brexit will bring to Portsmouth and to Stop Brexit. They believe residents in both our constituencies deserve a firm voice that will fight for Portsmouth, and champion our place within the EU and the benefits that brings our city.
With Brexit gone we can tackle the climate crisis and deal with the shocking underinvestment by this Conservative government in our infrastructure, schools and hospitals. We achieve so much more when we work together.
Portsmouth City Council Leader Gerald Vernon Jackson wants our city to do more to help families find a home that meets their needs. He shares the story of a local family with four children he met recently who are currently living in a two bedroom flat because the council does not have a suitable property to offer them.
Cllr Steve Pitt, Deputy Leader of the Portsmouth City Council (Lib Dem - Central Southsea Ward) said: "We're really keen to find out how we can continue to work efficiently but also keen to hear from residents and businesses about the areas you think we need to be focusing on in the future."
The Liberal Democrats are delighted to announce that Antonia Harrison has been selected by members as the prospective Liberal Democrat MP for the Portsmouth North Constituency.
The Liberal Democrats have secured the best ever European Election result in the party's history, expecting to return 16 MEPs and take second place in vote share.
