Richard Adair campaigning to clean-up Southsea streets

Born and raised here Richard Adair is putting his experience of 37 years policing to good work by campaigning to clean-up untidy streets and fly-tipping. Richard says, "It's an offence to litter streets, but too little is being done to prevent and deter those doing it," he adds "just out walking you can't help, but almost fall over fly-tipped sofas, fridges, freezers, rubble and all sorts of unwanted items and rubbish".

Portsmouth Conservatives charge residents to get rid of their DIY waste

Portsmouth’s Conservative administration have decided people must now pay to get rid of their DIY waste.

The fees include charges to dispose of soil and rubble, plasterboard, and cement-bonded asbestos and came into force on Saturday. But critics say authorities are not being specific enough, nor clear over what waste remains to be free of charge.
