50 Trees Saved

Following contact with Solent NHS by local Lib Dem councillor Gerald Vernon-Jackson, they have withdrawn their planning application which would have resulted in about 50 protected trees being cut down. The local Lib Dem team would like to thank everyone who wrote in to the council against the application and the Keep Milton Green team for alerting so many people to the application and arranging the protest featured above.

Local Lib Dem councillors Ben Dowling, Tom Wood and Suzy Horton had a busy weekend out in the local community, supporting local events.

Between them, they supported the Baffins Fun Day (above, top left), the Southsea Food Festival (above, bottom left), the Beddow Library Bake Sale (above, bottom right), the Grand Opening of Southsea Brewing Company (above, top right) and the Milton Trees Protest. The group also found time to speak to residents about the future of Victoria Park.

Residents delighted with swift Lib Dem action on 'sink hole'

Catisfield Road residents alerted city Councillors on Twitter and Facebook to a 4 feet wide sink-hole that opened up wide beneath the Tarmac and dropped down about 2 feet. Lib Dem Councillors Ben Dowling (Milton Ward) and Lee Hunt (Central Southsea) reacted quickly calling out Colas, the city's highways contractor. Cllr Hunt went to the location to await Colas, who arrived within 20mins and caused the affected area to be surrounded by barriers.
