Jennie Brent - Eastney & Craneswater Ward

First elected 7th May 2015. Jennie is standing to retain her seat as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Eastney & Craneswater Ward in the 2019 local elections.


Jennie has lived and worked in Portsmouth for the past 48 years where she has successfully helped and supported the local community in various ways. With an outgoing and friendly personality, she enjoys meeting new people and making a positive difference in people's lives.

Throughout her career in Portsmouth she has worked as a nurse, a Lecturer, a Life Coach and a Director of a Local Charity working with vulnerable children and adults, some with Special Educational Needs. She has focused not only on educating and caring for people but understands the importance of empowering individuals to achieve to the best of their abilities.
Jennie is used to working in a multicultural environment; working with people of all ages and different skill sets.

Jennie knows how important it is to listen and keep in touch with people, and firmly believes she can be an advocate for people who feel they don't have a voice.

Jennie feels that it is a real privilege to be a Councillor; providing her with the opportunity to be an advocate, and a voice for community issues. She wants to play a part, where possible, in enhancing lives of those in our local community. The Lib Dem team put the community first; wanting to build and safeguard a fair, free and open society.

Jennie wants to make a difference to the quality of lives and people's prospects for the future. It is important that people take part in decisions which affect their lives. She is proactive and has high personal standards in all areas and always takes a person centred approach to each individual she meets. She is an enthusiastic and committed person with a realistic attitude to life and any issues she encounters.

She is conscientious and hard working. She wants to look to the future with the view to developing opportunities for Portsmouth residents and next generations to ensure they are secure and safe and that they feel proud to be a resident living in Portsmouth.
