Jeanette was elected on Thursday 3rd May 2018.
Jeanette was born in Bradford West Yorkshire however her family moved down to Portsmouth when she was 3 years old. Jeanette’s family are Portsmouth born and bred and is the third largest and oldest in Portsmouth. She went to local schools at Meon Infant School, Milton Junior School and Great Salterns Comprehensive. On leaving school went straight to work in GPO which later turned into British Telecom and was there for 15 years. During this time Jeanette became actively involved in politics and the Trade Union movement.
On leaving British Telecom Jeanette went to Portsmouth University for a year taking a Postgraduate diploma in Personnel Management and worked part time to fund the course.
Jeanette then commenced a 13 year career in Portsmouth City Unison as lead representative and dealt with hundreds of casework including grievances and disciplinary processes. She was also lead officer for Unison for Best Value negotiations for Portsmouth City Council members. This was followed by Jeanette taken a position with Portsmouth City Council HR department as a Local Pay Review officer and then as a contracts officer for 5 years.
On leaving Portsmouth City Council Jeanette worked at Heathrow for 6 months representing airline pilots and on her return came back to the job she loves in Hampshire Unison as a full time private Sector representative.
Jeanette has been actively engaged within the Baffin’s community and was Neighbourhood Forum Chair for 5 years, School Governor for 25 years in 4 local schools (College Park, Westover, Milton Park and Redwood) and 54th Beaver Scout Leader for 15 years.
