The City Council is now doing the official consultation on the abolition of the Fratton Residents Parking zone (except for a few streets right by the station).
This is residents' last chance to have their say on whether they want their residents car parking zone to go or not. If it stays it will cost car owners £30 for their first permit, instead of being free.
Local Lib Dem Councillor David Fuller said, "Please do let the City Council know what you think. If residents don't let them know then they will just take the residents parking zone away. I live in Clive Road and I can remember what it was like on match weekends before there was residents parking. It was a nightmare. We could go back to having cars just dumped for days at a time and there would be nothing anyone could do about it."
Dave Ashmore, the other local Lib Dem councillor added, "The Conservative, Labour and UKIP councillors voted together to take our residents parking zone away. I think they are ignoring local people. I live in Byerley Road and I remember vans and lorries being left on our street all through the weekend. It blocked out all the light from our front room. This could happen again."
