Following on from the 10 October Council Housing Decision Meeting, we wanted to give everyone an update on fire safety and, more specifically, the removal of the cladding from Horatia and Leamington House.
We know that many people are concerned about the safety of these blocks and we are happy to report that Hampshire Fire and Rescue conducted a safety inspection and determined that both blocks have safety features that are different from Grenfell Tower which make them safe to live in.
As an extra precaution, the Council has introduced an on-site fire warden who is available 24 hours, 7 days a week.
However, the Council is still going ahead with replacing the cladding to ensure that the residents of those tower blocks will be as safe as possible. The removal of the cladding will take until February 2018 but the date for getting the cladding replaced with something more reliable is still to be determined.
If residents have any questions, they can contact Angie Tee who is the residents liaison officer appointed to deal with fire issues around Horatia and Leamington House. She can be reached on 07956 002660 or 02392 841311.
