We are really pleased that Portsmouth is getting a new country park with over 50,000 trees.
The Horsea Island Country Park will be built near Port Solent, on the old landfill site to the north west of the M275.
The work will start this month. The country park will offer visitors 128 acres of public green open space, which is the equivalent of 86 football pitches of land!
The park will include a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Wood with 50,000 trees and shrubs as well as grass areas, wild- flower meadows, footpaths, cycle routes, picnic areas and stunning views of Portsmouth Harbour.
Liberal Democrat councillors are delighted that we will see through the delivery of a project that started when the Lib Dems were last in control in Portsmouth.
