City Parks To Be Maintained In-House

Lib Dem Culture, Leisure & Sports spokesperson, Cllr Lee Hunt, recently attended a decision meeting about how the council should maintain our city's parks and other open spaces.

Lee commented: "I went to support a recommendation by officers that the city council contract (let in 2001) to maintain parks and open spaces be brought back 'in-house'. From everything I have seen and heard this will be better for employees,
deliver at least the same or improved service and save £265,000 a year."

The service will be partnered with the city's Clean and Green Team.

Cllr Symes (Conservative Cabinet Member) agreed to bring the service back into the Council as proposed. A full copy of the report can be found here.
