I was born in Portsmouth and have lived here all my life. Southsea has been my home for over 20 years. I love our city.
I was a publican for 22 years, a job which connected me to thousands of local people. I now work in the music business and have been extremely active on the city's cultural scene for a long time. I helped found and then chaired the city's Culture Partnership for 8 years, bringing together a wide group of partners to collaborate and share resources and expertise.
I believe in volunteering – I have assisted with Live at The Bandstand; produce a Children In Need Gala each year at The Kings and I was part of a team which raised thousands of pounds for the Tom Prince Cancer Trust through live music events.
I want our city to be even better. We need to be able to be proud of where we live. We need clean streets, we need to improve our recycling, we need to find solutions for our parking crisis but above all we need to protect our most vulnerable residents. I believe our current Conservative / UKIP administration, often with Labour support, have failed to do this, cutting vital services such as domestic violence and hate crime resolution, which simply moves the problem further down the line and will, in the end, actually cost us all more.
I oppose our emergency services being part of the cuts agenda. Cutting our Fire Service and Police Stations just to save cash, not because it is the best thing to do, is simply wrong. Our safety should always come first.
I've already been working hard with the Lib Dem team in Central Southsea. Please give me your support to make me an even stronger voice for our community.
